Arthur J. "Art" Evenson, age 89, or Bridger, Montana, formerly of the Akeley, Nevis, and Park Rapids, MN areas, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2003 at the Evergreen Health and Rehabilitation Center in Laurel, MT.

Arthur was born on March 7, 1914 in Walker, MN to Julius and Anna (Lagergreen) Evenson. In 1934 he was united in marriage to Jane Frances Hurley. They later divorced and Jane preceded him in death in 1994. In 1952, Arthur ventured to Montana. He gained employment as a logger in the West Fork area of the Gallatin Canyon, now known as Big Sky, MT. Later he became a cook in many of the local hotels and restaurants in the Bozeman, MT area and also worked for the Idaho Pole Company for over 13 years. He married Louise VanNice in 1977 and she preceded in him in death. In 1994 he married Della Jordan and the couple made their home in Bridger.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Della; his children: Agnes (John) Walczak of Calimesa, CA; Kay (Ken) Mayfield of Hartville, MO; Carol (Jerry) Jones of Fromberg, MT; Arthur (Barbara) Evenson Jr. of Belgrade, MT; Julius Evenson San Luis Obispo, CA; Myron (Karen) Evenson of Three Forks, MT; one sister, Agnes Dighton of Red Bluff, CA; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and two step- children: Louella Linger and Mary Lou Kline. Art was preceded in death by his parents; two wives: Jane and Louise; and his sister, Evelyn Schroeder of Park Rapids, MN in 2002.
