CLARENCE A. NELSON June 28, 1923 - January 22, 2015 Clarence A. Nelson, age 91 a long time Park Rapids area resident, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga, MN. Clarence was born on June 28, 1923 in Outlook, Saskatchewan, Canada. After high school, Clarence entered the United States Army where he proudly served his country during World War II and earned the rank of Corporal. After receiving his honorable discharge he attended the University of North Dakota at Grand Forks and earned a degree in Civil Engineering. He was united in marriage to Alda Ann Wendt on June 13, 1948. His career took he and Alda on projects throughout the United States. They made Columbus, Ohio their home until retirement when they settled on Long Lake near Park Rapids. Several years ago they moved into Park Rapids where Clarence and Alda have resided ever since. Clarence will be lovingly remembered by his precious soul mate and wife for these past 66 years, Alda of Park Rapids as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held 2:30 PM Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids. Visitation will begin at 1 PM Tuesday. Interment will be made in the Memorial Park South Cemetery in Grand Forks. The Star of the North Marine Corps League under the direction of Mr. David Free will provides military honors.
