Geneva A Swanson

August 24, 1933 — January 22, 2015

GENEVA ANN PARSONS SWANSON August 24, 1933 - January 22, 2015 Geneva Ann Parsons Swanson peacefully passed from this life of struggles and pain to an eternal life of victory, glory, the fullness of God's grace and healing. She left this life on Thursday, January 22, 2014 while residing at the St. Eligious Health Center in Duluth with her daughters, Kathryn and Vicki at her side. Geneva was born on August 24, 1933 in Pony, MT to James and Geneva (Artley) Parsons. As a girl, her family ventured north to Alaska where she graduated from high school in 1951. She was in Alaska in the 1940's when Japan waged a series of attacks on Alaska. As a young woman she moved to Washington State where her daughter, Kathryn Ann was born. Geneva moved to Minnesota in 1955 where she gained employment with the Gedney Pickle Company in Chaska as a secretary-receptionist. It was there she met Carl Victor Swanson. They married in 1964. Victor and Geneva moved to Park Rapids in 1973 where Victor began a home Fix-It business. In addition, Geneva and Victor operated a small farm together. She loved raising her baby lambs and gardening. Geneva loved being a grandmother and always kept a toy box handy for the grandchildren. She also loved the Lord and taught Sunday School for over 20 years at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Hubbard. Her favorite words were "Get-up! We're going to church!" She would drive and pick up children to bring to Sunday School every Sunday morning. She worked with many Vacation Bible Schools, Christmas programs and Bible camps. She loved the Lord with all her heart, soul and mind and wanted everyone to know and love him too. Her life showed a faithfulness to him to the very end. She now lives with him "where eye has not seen, ear has not heard, nor can the mind of man conceive all that God has prepared for those who love him." Her love was unconditional, long suffering and very sacrificial. Her spirit was always sweet even to the very end. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Kathryn Ann of Duluth and son, Richard Allen (MiMi) Swanson of Washington State; her adopted children: Vickie Renae Luck of Duluth, Terry (Deb) Kuns of Kyle, TX and Robin Still of Cohasset; 11 grandchildren: Victor, Mickel, Crystal, Leigh, Dawn, Dana, Jennifer, Kirston, Christopher, Chandler and Bradley; 13 precious great grandchildren; her two sisters: Peggy Blaisdell and Mary Werner; a brother, James as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Geneva was preceded in death by her loving husband, Victor Swanson; her first grandson, Ryan Allmon; her mother, Geneva Ficco; her father, James Parsons; her brother, Richard Parsons and two nieces: Lisa Werner and Charlotte Werner.
