HARRIET BEAVERLANDER March 9, 1931 - December 8, 2014 Harriet Beaverlander, age 83 of Park Rapids, MN, formerly of Robbinsdale, MN, was called to her heavenly home on Monday, December 8, 2014 at the Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Park Rapids, surrounded by her daughters. Harriet was born on March 9, 1931 in Deer River, MN to Ralph and Sarah (Sills) Leckner. As a girl she moved with her parents to Robbinsdale, MN where she graduated from high school. While in high school, Harriet was an exceptional athlete who earned a letter in cheerleading and worked summers as a life guard at the Twin Lakes Beach. She was united in marriage to Roy Gene Beaverlander and they were blessed with four daughters: Judy, Cindy, Linda and Nancy. The young family made their home in Robbinsdale where she dedicated her life to making a warm and loving home for her family. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will be long remembered for he delicious home cooking. Harriet taught her daughters the same culinary skills she used each day. She would often work late into the night sewing clothes for her daughters. In addition to caring for her family, she also worked outside her home as a cashier for the Thriftway Super Market in Crystal for many years. Later, she worked as a drill press operator for Holiday Circuits. She was a very hard worker who instilled her strong work ethic into her children. She enjoyed spending many summer weekends at the cabin she and Roy built on Little Sand Lake near Park Rapids. Later in her life, she moved to Park Rapids where she could be closer to her brothers and sisters. Harriet loved the out doors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. She had a deep love for all animals and raised registered beagle dogs for many years. She also enjoyed many close and enduring friendships with her classmates from Robbinsdale High School right up until the time of her death. Above all, Harriet devoted her life to her family. She was very close with her siblings and treasured the time she could spend with her daughters and her precious grand children. She will be lovingly remembered by her four daughters: Judy (Crunch) Anderson of Park Rapids, Cindy (Steve) Swenson of New Hope, Linda (Lee) Norquist of Otsego and Nancy (Jay) Kinkel of Park Rapids; ten grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and one great great grandson; a special friend who Harriet loved as a grand daughter, Mayra Berry of Blaine, MN; her two sisters: Ida (Ed) Steidler of Park Rapids and Irene (Larry) Hennig of St. Cloud; two brothers: Walt Leckner and Ronald (Sherry) Leckner all of Park Rapids; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Harriet was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Audrey and Alberta; one brother, Ralph Leckner and one grandson, Robert John. Services will be held 3 PM Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids with Scott Warne officiating. A piano solo will be played by Sawyer Steidler and the congregational hymns will be: "How Great Thou Art", "Amazing Grace" and "The Old Rugged Cross". The urn bearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren. A time of refreshment will follow after the service at the funeral home.
